First time going to OF or TH

I was looking at going to OF or TH for the first time with wife and kids. I am looking at going up on the weekend of the 20th. Anyone got some good advice to make the trip fun. Also I need to find a place to stay and also where to get the trail passes for up there. Any help would be appr. Thanks in advance.

trail passes at info center in center of town 45.00 for weekend i believe maybe little less. north woods inn nice place, out of town on trail 5, christys motel in town www.oldforgeny.com will give you all you need to know

Old Forge requires a trail pass---tug hill no pass required---places to stay might be tuff at this late date
