    Urgent - Winter Weather Message
    National Weather Service Buffalo Ny
    1040 Pm Est Sat Feb 4 2006

...winter Conditions To Return To The Area This Weekend...

.low Pressure Will Track Just West Of Lake Ontario Tonight...then
Lift North Into Southern Quebec Toward Sunday Evening.

The Low Will Bring A General Light Snowfall West Of Rochester Later
Tonight. Strong Southwest Winds Following This Low Will Usher In
Much Colder Air Sunday Morning And Generate Bands Of Lake Effect
Snow. The Southwest Winds Will Direct The Steadier Lake Snows Into
Areas That Are East And Northeast Of Lake Erie Through At Least
Sunday Afternoon. This Will Include The Buffalo Metropolitan Area.
The Snow...combined With Winds Gusting Up To 50 Mph...will Produce
Frequent Whiteouts And Very Poor Driving Conditions During Sunday.

The Lake Erie Snow Bands Will Then Settle Slowly To The South
Sunday Evening And Sunday Night As The Winds Shifts To The West.
The Temperatures Will Remain Cold Enough To Keep The Lake Effect
Snow Going Across The Southern Tier Through Monday And Tuesday.

Areas East Of Lake Ontario Will See A Couple Inches Of Snow On
Sunday...but The Heavier Lake Effect Snow Will Hold Off Until
The Colder Air Builds Into The Area Sunday Evening. The Lake
Effect Snow East Off Lake Ontario Will Also Last Through Tuesday.

Since This Is The First Significant Winter Weather That We Have Seen
In Quite Awhile...use Extra Caution And Be Prepared For Rapidly
    Deteriorating Conditions On Sunday.
